Amicalola falls. The jewel of north Georgia

I had no idea that the tallest waterfall this side of the Mississippi is not but 15 minutes from my home!
If you have not been there yet, it's a great place to take out of town folks. The hike to the lodge at the top isn't for everyone, but most individuals who workout on an average basis will find the climb moderately challenging. Once at the top the view is breathtaking. A sense of accomplishment floods into you as you tell yourself  "I just climbed that high!". There's an inn I'm told that can only be reached by hiking 5 miles to it. I plan on doing that hike sometime in the future and will update how the experience was.

Amicalola falls in Dawsonville GA...definitely worth checking out!

A very moving experience!

I thought about what to write for my first ever blog post in my new home. As I look around my new place, I still have non-essential books and clothes packed in boxes and then I thought, why not write about my moving company experience? So here goes.
I chose Pair Of Guys Movers out of Cumming to handle my move and they did an AWESOME job.
I had read reviews on Kudzu that were generally quite positive and so I decided to check out their website (pairofguysmovers.com). After gleaning off their site several tips to prepare for my move, I decided to give them a call. Right away I got a live person. The reason I'm emphasizing that is I also called a handful of other places just to see what the other moving companies were offering and one of two things repeatedly occurred. One, I had to wait on hold with what seemed like forever only to talk to some kid that sounded like he was on straight commission. And two, I'd leave a message and have to wait days for a response.

So Pair Of Guys Movers was the logical choice. I felt confident making an appointment with them because their information was consistent. Allow me to explain. The man I spoke to said my move would have a 2 hour minimum and no hidden fees for things like local driving, for carrying items long distances or for stretchwrapping and blanketing. In comparison, one other place I called the girl told me it was a 2 hour minimum and no hidden fees, but when I was transferred to their "verification department" they said there was a 3 hour minimum, a $10.00 per item protection fee, a long carry fee (because my apartment was on the second floor and more than 50 feet to the truck supposedly) and on top of that, a charge of .10 per stair. Needless to say, I felt that particular mover was just out to make a buck at my expense.

I liked that Pair Of Guys sent me a confirmation of everything that was discussed on the phone to my email so I could digest it all on my own time. Fast forward to yesterday when my moving crew arrived. The movers were chipper and introduced themselves. Chad, Calvin, and Danny explained they would do a quick walk-through of my place to determine what needed to be loaded first. Had it been me doing the loading, I probably would have mistakenly packed the fragile items on the truck first, but these guys knew exactly what to load first in order to "build a foundation" as they explained it.

I move around quite often, and I can tell you that with as smooth and affordable as this move was, I'll never again consider doing it with family and myself. Granted I'm not as skilled in moving as my movers were, but moving myself took an entire weekend plus a Monday (I have too many books). It was just too much time to spend trying to do the move myself when I could have been doing more productive things like relaxing at the pool :)

In short, Pair Of Guys Movers came to my rescue and prevented me from suffering several weeks of body aches. Their price was well worth it and actually priced quite a bit lower than the other places I called, especially the ones that had inconsistent stories and hidden fees. I would not hesitate to use them in the future or recommend them, and I could not be happier with the way my move turned out. Now if you'll excuse me, I have many items to unwrap. It's almost like Christmas!
